Enter a .co.uk domain above and this WHOIS lookup returns its registrar, the dates it was registered, last updated and due to expire, its age in years, its nameservers and its status codes. It reads the registry's RDAP record and needs no signup.
How to check a co.uk domain
Type the domain without the https:// or a page path, for example example.co.uk, and run the lookup. The registrar row tells you which company manages the domain. Expiry tells you when it's due for renewal. Nameservers tell you where its DNS is hosted.
If you're thinking of buying a domain that's already taken, check the expiry date and status first. A domain that's close to expiry and isn't locked can still be renewed by its owner, so treat the date as the earliest it could come free.
What a co.uk lookup won't show you
This tool won't tell you who owns a domain. It doesn't show the registrant's name, address or email. Nominet only shows the registrant's details when the registrant has opted in. Its WHOIS service is also not a directory of email addresses or websites.
To reach an owner who hasn't opted in, contact the registrar the lookup shows. That's the company that manages the domain for them.
Nominet says the .uk WHOIS is end of life and will be phased out. Lookups now go through RDAP, and you can also run one on Nominet's own site at rdap.nominet.uk. From Nominet's .uk WHOIS guidance, read in October 2026.
