An Instagram bio can be up to 150 characters, and every letter and space counts toward it. Paste your bio above to see how many of the 150 you have left. You also get the count without spaces, the words and lines, and the room left for a title tag (60), a meta description (160) and an X post (280).
Where the 150 limit comes from
Instagram lets a bio run to 150 characters, in Instagram's Help Center, read in October 2026.
Spaces and line breaks count as one character each, just like letters. If your 150 limit is for a different site or form, check your text against the Characters count instead.
Put the bio on your profile
Trim the bio until Room left is no longer negative. Copy the text, paste it into the bio on your Instagram profile, and click Submit to save your changes.
