This title case converter capitalises a headline or a title tag the AP way: every word up except short words like a, and, of and to, which stay down unless they start or end the title. Acronyms such as SEO and brand spellings such as iPhone are left alone. It also does sentence case, upper and lower case. It runs in your browser and needs no signup.
How to use the title case converter
- 1Paste a headline, or a list of titles one per line.
- 2Pick a case.
- 3The converted text shows under the box and changes as you type, so you can fix a word and watch the result follow.
- 4Press Copy and paste it where it belongs.
When to use it
- You are writing a blog title and can never remember whether for takes a capital.
- A headline came to you in all caps and you need it in normal case without retyping it.
- Your site uses sentence case for titles and a writer sent everything in title case.
- You are fixing a batch of page titles and want them all to follow one rule.
Worked examples
A title with an acronym and a brand
We pasted a lower-case blog title with SEO and iPhone in it and picked Title Case.

For and an stay small. A goes up because it follows the colon. SEO and iPhone keep their spelling, which a plain capitalise-every-word tool would break.
An all-caps headline
We pasted a headline typed with caps lock on and picked Title Case.

When nearly every letter is a capital, the tool reads it as shouting rather than acronyms and rebuilds the case from scratch.
The words title case keeps lower case
Articles, conjunctions and prepositions of three letters or fewer stay lower case in the middle of a title: a, an, the, and, but, or, nor, for, so, yet, as, at, by, in, of, off, on, per, to, up, via and vs. Every word of four letters or more is capitalised, which is the AP Stylebook's rule. The first word, the last word and the word after a colon are always capitalised.
The Chicago Manual of Style differs on one point. It keeps prepositions lower case however long they are. So where this tool writes With, From and About, Chicago writes them small. Following Chicago? Lower those by hand.
