This OG image generator makes the picture your link shows when someone shares it on LinkedIn, Facebook, X, Slack or WhatsApp. Type your page title, add your site name and brand colour, pick one of four styles and download a 1200 x 630 PNG. You also get the meta tags that point to it, ready to paste into your page's head. It's free, with no signup and no watermark.
How to use the OG image generator
- 1Type your page's title, up to 120 characters. Use the title people see on the page.
- 2Add your site name if you want it above the title, then pick your brand colour.
- 3Choose a style: Bold colour, Soft gradient, Dark or Light.
- 4Press Make image. The picture appears beside the form, or under it on a phone.
- 5Press Download PNG and upload the file to your site. Copy the tags and swap https://example.com/og-image.png for the file's address.
When to use it
- You're about to share a new post and it has no share image, so the link would show a bare title.
- Your site puts its logo, cropped, on every shared link, and you want each post to have its own picture.
- You're publishing a series of posts and want every share image in the same colour and style.
- A client's site launches this week and none of its pages has a share image yet.
Worked example
A guide title in the Light style
We made a share image for a running shop's guide, with the shop's name above the title.
- Title
- How to pick a running shoe for flat feet
- Site name (optional)
- Example Running
- Brand colour
- #0f766e
- Style
- Light
- Result
- A 1200 x 630 picture: the site name in teal at the top left, the title in large dark letters on three lines, and a teal quarter circle with a paler one inside it in the bottom right corner, all on an off-white ground
- Download PNG
- how-to-pick-a-running-shoe-for-flat-feet.png
- Meta tags to paste
- og:image, og:image:type, og:image:width (1200), og:image:height (630), og:image:alt (the title), twitter:card (summary_large_image) and twitter:image
The file came back at 36 KB. The same title in the Dark style was 162 KB, and a Soft gradient image in our tests was about 300 KB, because a smooth blend of colours compresses less well than flat colour. The file name comes from the title, so it is easy to find in your media library, and the alt tag repeats the title for people using screen readers.
