This schema markup generator writes JSON-LD for seven types: FAQ, Organization, Local business, Article, Product, Breadcrumbs and How-to. Pick a type and fill in the fields that apply. The code updates as you type, with a note for any required field still empty and any URL, date or price in the wrong format, ready to paste into your page. It runs in your browser, sends nothing to us, and needs no signup.
How to use the schema markup generator
- 1Pick a type from the tabs across the top: FAQ, Organization, Local business, Article, Product, Breadcrumbs or How-to.
- 2Fill in whatever fields apply to you. Empty ones are simply dropped from the code.
- 3Watch the box above the code. It lists anything Still needed, and warns when a URL, date or price is in a shape that won't validate.
- 4Press Copy code and paste the script into the page's head or body.
- 5Once the page is live, run it through the schema validator to confirm the markup shipped.
When to use it
- Your developer is busy and you need Organization or LocalBusiness markup on the homepage this week.
- You sell products and want the price, stock status and ratings written in a form Google can read.
- You've added breadcrumbs to your site and need the matching BreadcrumbList code.
- A plugin wrote schema you don't trust, and you want a clean block to compare it with.
Worked example
Organization markup for a homepage
We filled in the two fields most homepages start with.
- Schema type
- Organization
- Name
- SearchBlueprint
- Website URL
- https://searchblueprint.io
- Your JSON-LD
- <script type="application/ld+json"> { "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "Organization", "name": "SearchBlueprint", "url": "https://searchblueprint.io" } </script>
Two fields went in and two properties came out, with the empty Logo URL, Description, Email, Phone and profile fields left out of the code. No Still needed box appeared, because Organization only needs a name. Add a logo URL and your social profiles next. The profiles become a sameAs list, which tells search engines those accounts belong to the same business.
What each type needs before it is complete
| Type | Still needed until you fill in |
|---|---|
| FAQ | At least one question with an answer, and an answer for every question |
| Organization | Name |
| Local business | Name, street address and city |
| Article | Headline, author name and date published |
| Product | Product name, plus a price or a rating |
| Breadcrumbs | One named crumb, and a URL for every crumb but the last |
| How-to | Name and at least one step |
Google changed two of these in 2023: FAQ rich results now show only for well-known government and health sites, and How-to rich results no longer show at all. The markup is still valid schema.org and still describes the page.
