To check a Shopify store's traffic, enter its domain above. You'll get an estimate of its monthly visits from Google's organic results in the United States, the number of keywords it ranks for, and how many of those rank in the top 3 and the top 10. It works on any store, so you can check competitors without logging in to anything.
How to check a Shopify store's traffic
- Copy the store's domain from your browser's address bar, the one shoppers see.
- Paste it above and run the check.
- Read the estimated monthly organic traffic first, then the ranking keywords.
- Compare the top 3 and top 10 counts with the total. A store with many keywords but few in the top 10 shows up in Google but rarely gets the click.
Run your own store and two or three competitors the same way. The gap between the numbers tells you more than any single result.
What the estimate leaves out
The traffic figure is modelled. It isn't the store's own analytics data. It doesn't count visits from ads, social, email or direct visits, and it covers searches in the United States only.
It doesn't show sales or revenue either. Many of the tools ranking for this search are revenue trackers. If you want to know what a competitor sells, this checker can't tell you. It estimates their visits from Google search and nothing else.
Your own store's real numbers in Shopify
For your own store, Shopify counts real sessions. Open the reports in your Shopify admin and filter the category to Acquisition. These reports cover the Online Store sales channel only.
A session ends after 30 minutes of inactivity. One visitor can have several sessions, so sessions usually come out higher than visitors. Expect your sessions to differ from the estimate above, since your sessions include every source and every country.
