This SEO audit tool checks one page for the basics that decide whether Google can index it and show it well: HTTPS, redirects, noindex, the title tag, meta description, H1, subheadings, canonical, mobile viewport, language, image alt text, structured data and share tags. Enter a URL and each check comes back Pass, Check or Fail, with the reason beside it. It needs no signup. Need a free SEO audit of one page before you touch the rest of the site?
How to use the SEO audit tool
- 1Type the page address into URL to check, such as example.com/services. A bare domain gets https:// added and checks the homepage.
- 2Press Check, or hit Enter. The tool fetches that one page and reads its HTML, which takes a few seconds.
- 3Read the count at the top, such as 12 of 13 checks passed. Rows marked Fail come first, then Check, then Pass, then Note.
- 4Read the line beside each row. It says what the tool found: the title's length, how many images have no alt text, where the canonical points.
- 5Fix the Fail rows, then run the check again. Copy link to this result gives you a link that runs the same check for whoever edits the site.
When to use it
- A page that should rank is stuck on page three, and you want to rule out the basics before you rewrite it.
- You launched a new page or a redesign and want to know it isn't set to noindex.
- A developer says the SEO is done, and you want to check the title, canonical and headings yourself.
- You're about to show a page to a client or your boss and don't want a missing meta description to be the first thing they spot.
Worked example
A homepage with one thing to fix
We checked our own homepage.
- URL to check
- https://searchblueprint.io
- Result
- 12 of 13 checks passed on https://searchblueprint.io/
- Meta description
- Check: 167 characters. Likely cut off in results.
- Title tag
- Pass: 59 characters: "SearchBlueprint | SEO on autopilot for Google and AI search".
- Canonical tag
- Pass: Self-referencing.
- Structured data
- Pass: 3 JSON-LD blocks, all valid JSON.
- Word count
- Note: About 4,631 words of main content (menus and footer left out).
One row needs work. The meta description runs to 167 characters, wider than the 920 pixels the tool allows for a results snippet, so Google will likely cut the end off. Everything that decides whether the page can be indexed passed: HTTPS, no redirect, no noindex, one H1 and a canonical pointing at itself. The word count row is only a note and doesn't count toward the 12 of 13. At 4,631 words the page is long for a homepage, and whether that matters is your call.
What each check looks for
| Check | How it is marked |
|---|---|
| HTTPS | Pass if the final address starts with https://, Fail if not |
| Redirects | Pass if the URL answers directly. One redirect is a Note, two or more is Check |
| Indexable | Fail if the robots meta tag or the X-Robots-Tag header says noindex |
| Title tag | Fail if missing, Check if too wide to show in full |
| Meta description | Check if missing, too long or too short |
| H1 heading | Pass with exactly one, Check with two or more, Fail with none |
| Subheadings | Check if the page has no H2 |
| Canonical tag | Check if there is none, Fail if the head has two that point at different URLs |
| Mobile viewport | Fail if there is no viewport meta tag |
| Language attribute | Check if the html tag has no lang |
| Image alt text | Check if any image has no alt text |
| Structured data | Fail if any JSON-LD block is broken JSON |
| Social share tags | Check unless og:title and og:image are both set |
| Word count | Always a Note: words of main content, menus and footer left out |
Notes are not scored, which is why a page with 14 rows can show 12 of 13.
