Best AI SEO tools

Which AI SEO tool is worth paying for? 8 compared, with September 2026 prices

Most tools now put AI in the name. Each card says what the tool does today, per its own pages, what it costs, and when another tool on the list is the better buy.

Disclosure: SearchBlueprint makes this page and is one of the 8 tools on it, listed first. Every other tool's price and features come from its own website, read on September 29, 2026, and each card says when another tool is the better pick.

How we chose and compared them

We compared published facts only: what each vendor's own pages say the tool does and costs. We did not score or rate the tools.

  • What the AI does: plans, writes, optimizes a draft, changes your site, or tracks AI answers.
  • What you can use today, as opposed to what is announced.
  • What the first paid plan costs and what it includes.
  • Whether you stay in control of what changes on your site.

At a glance

Prices as each vendor states them on September 29, 2026, in US dollars. Check their site before you buy.

The tools, one by one

  1. 1.SearchBlueprint

    Our product

Best for: Planning the work before anything gets written.

A planning tool, not a writer: one run on your URL gives you a keyword map (which page targets which search), a site structure and a list of pages to write next. On paid plans the on-page plan suggests titles and headings for each page, and the free tools score how ready a page is to be quoted by AI search.

Writing opens to customers in October.

Pick another tool if: You want drafts written today, or your brand checked in ChatGPT and Gemini answers. We do neither; Surfer, Frase and Writesonic write drafts, and most tools here check AI answers.

  2. 2.Surfer

Best for: Content teams writing and optimizing pages to rank in Google and get cited by AI.

Discovery covers 120 documents and 10 tracked pages. Standard adds 25 AI prompts refreshed weekly, and Pro 50 prompts refreshed daily across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Gemini. It connects to WordPress, Google Docs, Contentful and Zapier.

Surfer's site now carries the name Positive Surfer.

  3. 3.Semrush

Best for: Teams that want SEO and AI search reports in one large suite.

The Starter plan combines SEO with AI search: 5 websites, 500 keywords tracked daily, 50 AI prompts tracked daily and 300 AI visibility reports a day. Pro+ at $299/mo raises the prompts to 100 a day.

  4. 4.Search Atlas

Best for: Agencies that want SEO work automated across many client sites.

Their pricing page says OTTO runs your SEO on its own: technical fixes, on-page improvements and content. Starter includes the Atlas Agent and OTTO for one project, and Growth adds AI answers across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode plus a Meta and Google ad studio.

    Entry price
$99/mo (Starter), or $79/mo billed annually

  5. 5.Frase

Best for: Writers and content teams that want research, drafting, publishing and AI citation checks in one place.

Starter covers 1 site, 10 articles and 50 audit pages a month, AI answer checks on ChatGPT and Google AI, and publishing to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity or Wix, or free hosting on FraseCMS. An MCP server and CLI come with every plan.

Questions people ask

What is an AI SEO tool?

Software that uses AI for part of the SEO work: planning what to publish, writing or optimizing drafts, changing pages on your site, or checking how AI answers mention you. Most tools do one or two of these well.

Will AI-written content hurt my rankings?

Google's guidance asks why content was made: content made mainly to help people is what its systems reward, and using AI mainly to manipulate rankings breaks its spam policies. Plan pages people need and check every draft before it goes live.

Can one tool do everything?

The suites come closest, at a higher price. Many small teams pair a planning tool with one writing tool instead.

Does SearchBlueprint write articles?

Not for customers yet. Writing and publishing open to customers in October; today it plans the pages, writes the on-page titles and headings on paid plans, and gives you the free AI search tools.

Before you pick a tool, see what your own site needs.

Start with the plan for your own site: which page targets each search, and what to write next. The first one is free.
