What it does
The wizard is not a form. Each answer feeds the next step, and the whole audit, keyword map and content plan are built from what you confirm here. Five minutes spent correcting it saves re-running everything.
The questions
Your website
The domain to analyse. Use the live public site. A staging URL, a URL behind a login, or a site that blocks bots will produce a thin audit or none at all.
What the business does
We read your homepage and propose a description plus a list of offerings. This is the most important screen in the wizard. It decides:
- which keywords are considered relevant
- which competitors are considered real competitors
- what every generated article assumes about you
If the proposed description is generic ("a digital marketing agency") the keywords come back generic too. Make it specific, and say what you sell rather than what you value.
Your market
Country and language. This selects the search database the keyword volumes, difficulty scores and competitor rankings come from. Getting it wrong does not fail loudly, it just gives you accurate numbers for the wrong country.
Pick where your customers search, not where your office is.
Your competitors
We look at who actually ranks for the searches your business should win, then propose those as competitors. Expect surprises: the businesses you think of as rivals often are not who is taking your search traffic.
Remove any that are not real competitors. Directories, dictionaries, job boards and news publishers are filtered out automatically, but the filter is not perfect.
Your keywords
The proposed keyword set, with search volume and intent. Confirm, cut, or add. These become your keyword map, which decides which page targets which search and seeds the content plan.
Cut ruthlessly. A keyword you have no intention of writing for is noise in every report from here on.
When it goes wrong
The wizard says step 1 of 6 but the sidebar lists more steps. The sidebar lists every stage including ones that run after the audit; the counter counts the ones you fill in. Both are correct, which is not obvious, and is on our list to fix.
You leave and come back. Progress is saved. Re-open the start page and you resume where you stopped.
You want to change an answer later. Business description, market and keywords are all editable in the website's settings after setup. Changing the market means the existing keyword data was pulled for the old one, so re-run the audit afterwards.
