This password generator makes a random password from 6 to 64 characters, using the letter cases, digits and symbols you tick. It creates the password in your browser with its built-in secure random number source, so the password is never sent to us or stored. A 16-character password with three or more character types is marked Strong.
How to use the password generator
- 1Open the page. A 16-character password using all four character types is already waiting.
- 2Drag the Length slider anywhere from 6 to 64 characters.
- 3Tick or untick Lowercase, Uppercase, Digits and Symbols to match what the site you are signing up to accepts.

When to use it
- You are creating a new account and want a password nobody could guess.

Sixteen characters drawn from all four sets is the setting to keep for most accounts. Never use a password printed on a web page, this one included: press refresh and use your own.
A site that refuses symbols
Some older systems only accept letters and numbers, so we unticked Symbols and set the length to 12.

Twelve characters from three sets reads Good. Push the slider to 16 and it reads Strong again, which is the easier fix when a site limits the characters you can use.
How the strength label is worked out

The label follows the length and the boxes you tick. It is a quick rule of thumb, not a measure of how long a password would take to crack.
